Birthdays

In 29 more days I will do all the things we loved to do together for celebration of your birthday.  The morning will start with the breakfast of champions – Dunkin Donuts (sorry Wheaties).  There will be shopping at Sam Moon for jewelry or a trinket that has lots of bling. DSW and Sephora are on the list because you can never have too many shoes and you must always be on the lookout for a new lip color or perfume.  I pick a movie that is sure to make your eyes roll and when I start complaining about my stomach hurting from all the “butter” you will simply shake your head in annoyance.

I will end the night at our favorite rest – Blue Fish.  I’ll order two glasses of plum wine and then play it by ear to order two different types of rolls or our favorite dish – the Volcano.  I will salute you with my glass of wine and wish you a very Happy Birthday.

I will do my best to wait until I walk in the door before I collapse in a puddle of tears. For the day, I’ve kept at bay all the would have, could have, and should haves.  We already made plans to spend your 25th birthday together.  Due to you being in school we missed spending your previous seven birthdays together but 25 was going to be our year.  I was already driving you crazy with thoughts of what we could do for your 30th.

Today marks 29 more days until birthday and it also marks 1,267 days since I lost you.  Some days that number feels like 1 day and others it feels like 10,000.  In the words of Bill Withers – “Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone”.

I miss you My Puppy.  Oh how I miss you!
